How Essex secondary schools fared in the Real Schools Guide 2018
For every school in the UK, the news that the Real Schools Guide is coming out can be nerve-racking. After all, it will showcase just how that school is performing and compare it to others in the UK and other schools in the area.
The guide will take a look at 51 different points within the school setting. This includes GCSE results, Attainment 8 scores and pupil to teacher ratios and also absence rates that are within the school too. The guide has been going for six years now, and over this time, it has received plenty of praise from ministers and education experts.
Within the Essex area, the highest-rated state-funded school is Colchester County High School for Girls, which is excellent news for this particular school, its teachers and of course, its students too. Colchester County High School for Girls was closely followed by Chelmsford County High School for Girls, with third place taken by King Edward VI Grammar School in Chelmsford.
It is thought that students who attended the number one school were achieving almost one whole GCSE grade higher than expected—a testament to the education and support that they were receiving within the school.
It seems that this is only set to improve for the school, as the grammar school is currently working towards opening their new sixth form centre, which they have spent £1.25 million working on. It is planned to be opening during July 2019 and will accommodate A level students, hopefully improving their reputation and success of the school even more.
With the schools in Essex performing well, we are sure that over the next few years we will start to see them appearing within the top 10 of the schools in the UK, not only boosting their reputations but also ensuring that students and teachers alike feel proud to be a part of the school.
